What to expect from a basement window egress installation from Steelway Cellar Doors

Adding a basement window egress can be a tricky installation if not handled properly. You are opening up a wide entrance in your basement, and the risk of water penetration is higher with egress windows. Here at Steelway Cellar Doors, we take extra care to make sure the job is done right. Dozens of times each year we get calls from contractors who ask us to "bail them out" when the window egress they wanted to install didn't go well. Make the right call and have Steelway Cellar Doors do it right the first time!

Our window well egress installation process is thorough and precise. We thru-bolt a concrete window well, assuring it will never pull away from the home, and we provide an engineer designed support to make sure there is no structural change to the building.

Egress windows can bring wonderful light to the basement living space while getting the basement up to code, but only if they're installed correctly. Don't take chances with contractors who do egress installation "once in a while" – contact Steelway Cellar Doors!

Basement egress frequently asked questions:

  1. Will my yard be damaged?
We use a landscape grade excavator and take all reasonable precautions to protect your yard. However, it is a construction project and you probably will need some landscaping work after we complete the job. For specific questions, please ask your sales representative.
  2. Do I need to paint the door at the top?
The Steelway door comes with a shop applied primer and will need a coat of exterior grade paint within a few months of installation.
  3. Do I need a permit?
YES. We take care of all the work required to get the permit, however the actual cost of the permit is the homeowner's responsibility. It is critical to have a permit assuring that you comply with all codes in your township. This is your guarantee that the work is being done properly.
  4. Is a door at the bottom included?
We can install a six panel insulated steel door for an extra fee if you choose.
  5. What about the dust and dirt in my house?
We use special equipment that virtually eliminates the dust in your house so there is no clean up.
